Riot Act

Description

Riot Act is easily the biggest project I have done. It is a single player modification for Half-Life 2 where players take the role of Jamil Lee, a young member of the civilian resistance taken into Nova Prospect. There is a small web site dedicated to the creation process behind it.

Dead Track

Description

This map was inspired to a real train station in Rome.
It is rather big, with a wide, open central area and small corridors all around, and this variety allows for strategic and fluent gameplay.

Backbone

Description

My first Half-Life 2 Deathmatch map. It is a medium sized indoor level, with a lot of vertical action in some places. Connectivity is good enough to allow you to travel from a corner of the map to its opposite in a few seconds. It was among the most played custom maps at the peak of the game. Four players are the minimum to play it.

Given to Fly

Description

Given to Fly is a floating level. Featuring all new textures by Shaderlab, modified by me for Capture the Flag usage, a new skybox and new custom sounds, this is one of the most experimental map I have done. I purposely tried to avoid ortogonal and plan surfaces. All weapons are only reachable by jumpads, making the gameplay utterly frantic and fast thinking.

Lost in Time

Description

Featuring evil lair textures and models from QKennyQ, this map started as a large terrain one to end up with a more classic and enjoyable layout. The large central area features some tactical yet fast paced gameplay options, while the bases are the realm of closed quarter combat.

Crossed World

Description

Crossed World was my first map for Team Arena, official id pack for Quake III Arena. All gametypes are supported (CTF, One Flag CTF, Harvester and Overload).
Multiple routing through the bases allows for a variety of gameplay styles, yet the map is easy to navigate and tends to reward teams with a strategic gameplay. The optimum load is 5vs5 or more. Bots are fully supported.

Up & Down

Description

Up & Down is probably my best Quake III map. It is a medium sized level, featuring fast paced action through the four floors. Relying so much on vertical action, the level itself is pretty compact, allowing for a very short time to first encounter. One of the most appreciated level I have done.

Two Souls

Description

Time to make a tourney map!
Two Souls features an interesting space-gothic style. The gameflow is based on several teleports, bringing you from a corner of the map to the opposite. Because of the symmetric layout and the small size, the map is easy to learn. I have included a health charger to attract players, but it's in a dangeorus place, with a deadly void pit just behind you. Good for small deathmatch too.

The Shiny Cage

Description

After Medievil Fear I have tried some experiments with easier layouts for pure free-for-all matches, so more vertical action, less linear gameflow, easy to learn maps. The result was The Shiny Cage. The gameplay is focused on a square patio with two corridors revolving around it. There are jumpads or stairs to move through the two floors and a small open area where you can get megahealth.
The resulting gameplay is frantic!

Medievil Fear

Description

My first Quake III level. This is a large arena, suited for 6 players or more. The map is particulary optimized for team deathmatch, with a complete different items disposition, arranged with the help of a professional player.
It was part of a trio specifically designed for a huge lan party in Italy.

The Long Night

Description

This is my very first release to the public, dated back to January 2000. It's a single player mission pack for Valve's Half-Life, counting 10 maps.
I have tried to create some sort of "mini" Half-Life, with a similar storyline, except the beginning sequence. As the name suggests, the whole pack takes place at night time, so I was able do some interesting use of lights and shadows.
